American Idol Checks Out Milwaukee Listen to the Call the "Soul Patrol." So there I was at Bayshore Town Centre, minding my own business at the Barnes and Noble, when I heard a little commotion not too far away. It turns out it was none other than American Idol winner and newly-minted author Taylor Hicks. With a black baseball cap pulled down low, there's no way I would have recognized him otherwise. Other than having his shirt unbuttoned a little further than most of us might go, he was pretty low key there...nothing pop-star about him. So what was he doing in Milwaukee, anyway? "I'm actually visiting my girlfriend (local TV news anchor Caroline Lyders), and we decided to come out to the Barnes and Noble and check my book out," Hicks said. That book, a memoir called "Heart Full of Soul," was just released Tuesday. And - bonus - he's a fan of Milwaukee too. "I've been visiting Milwaukee," said Hicks. "I like it and the weather's always nice. It's a nice little town and I've enjoyed coming here and visiting and definitely enjoyed to see how the book is on the shelves." As for whether he might make a more permanent move to Brew City, he says time will tell. In the meantime, Taylor Hicks will be on tour through the summer; he's performing in Waukegan, Illinois tonight.
