Taylor Hicks, winner of last year’s “American Idol,” has canceled a performance set for July 1 at the Johnny Mercer Theatre.

A news release from AC Entertainment blamed a scheduling conflict.

Tickets purchased with a credit card automatically will be refunded. Those who paid with cash will have to go to the Savannah Civic Center box office for a refund.

Hicks won the "American Idol" competition in 2006 using a mix of blues, soul and funk. He called it "modern whomp." His self-titled release debuted at No. 2 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart.
