Taylor Hicks back in prime
By Mike Brantley

Alabama songbird and "American Idol" champion Taylor Hicks continues his television blitz to promote his new CD release today with appearances on the syndicated daytime programs "Martha Stewart" (11 a.m., WPMI-TV15) and "Dr. Phil" (3 p.m., WALA-TV10).

In prime time tonight, he's among the entertainers on the cable holiday special "Christmas in Washington," starting at 9 p.m. on TNT.

You might think Hicks will be seeing a lot of Dr. Phil today, since the doctor and Robin McGraw are hosts of the TNT special, but the show actually was taped Sunday at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C.

Announced performances include Hicks singing a medley that includes "Santa Claus is Coming to Town," "Please Come Home for Christmas" and "Merry Christmas Baby"; Il Divo singing "White Christmas"; Chris Brown singing "This Christmas"; Bianca Ryan singing "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas"; and Corinne Bailey Rae singing "The Christmas Song."

President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush will be seen in the audience.

Being cable, you know TNT has encore showings planned tonight. The show is scheduled for repeats at 10 p.m. and 1 a.m.

Oh, and look for Hicks, too, on Megan Mullaly's syndicated show, at 11 a.m. Thursday on WALA-TV10.
